| Jeff Wegner began his martial arts training in 1988 while serving in the United States Army. Stationed in Korea, the birthplace of Tae Kwon Do, Jeff was able to attain his First Dan Black Belt before his tour was up. After leaving Korea, Jeff was next stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. While serving at Fort Bragg he began studying under the chief combative instructor in Cikaron Karate. Cikaron Karate originated in the Philippines as a foot fighting system called Sikaron Karate. The system changed over the years due to the large amount of rain that the country received each year, making a strictly kicking art less optimal. With the slippery fighting conditions, ground fighting techniques were implemented out of necessity. As other arts were blended, Cikaron Karate was developed. Some of the various arts implemented include Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Hapkido, American Karate, Shotokan Karate, and Ninjitsu. After his military obligations were fulfilled, Jeff returned to St. Cloud in 1992 and began training in the Integrated Martial Arts system(IMA). This system includes techniques from Aikido, Jujitsu, Kenpo Karate, and Tae kwon do. Jeff eventually received the rank of 3rd Dan in 2003. In the fall of 2000, Jeff began teaching the Integrated Martial Arts system. The IMA system is a self defense and fighting program that is composed of techniques and martial arts knowledge that he has accrued since 1988 from teaching and training in the martial arts. Always looking to evolve and grow as a martial artist, Jeff began training in Aikido under a 4th Dan in Japanese Aikido. His intructor had the rare privilege of training in O Sense's (Aikido's founder) Dojo in Japan for ten years. After two years of training, Jeff received the rank of 5th Kyu in Aikido. Looking to once again begin his training in the striking arts, Jeff began training in the Dual Dragons Martial Arts in October of '05, and now holds the rank of Certified Instructor in the Dual Dragons Jeet Kune Do system. He also holds the a blue belt rank in The American Jiu Jitsu Program, and has recently started training in The Arnis De Mano Program to further his knowledge in the Weapon arts. |
